Tour of Britain Grand Depart / Sky Ride
Tour of Britain Grand Depart: On Sunday 4 September, the Tour of Britain Grand Depart will see some of the best teams and riders in the world starting the race from Glasgow’s George Square. Once the cyclists have passed through the city centre, the public will have the chance to ride part of the same route by joining Sky Ride Glasgow.

Sky Ride Glasgow: At 11.30am, the 2016 Grand Depart will roll out from the city and race more than 160km to Castle Douglas, after which you can take part in Sky Ride Glasgow any time between 1.30-5pm – the perfect way to end the day!

Free bike check: There will be plenty of free activities such as cycling game shows, photo booths and a ‘Tricks & Tunes’ area – and all participants are entitled to a free expert bike check worth £14.99 at Halfords.
Nextbike: If the public want to take part in Sky Ride Glasgow but don’t have their own wheels, they can become a nextbike member and hire a bike from any of their stations in the city?
Tour of Britain Team Presentation: If you can’t make it along to either event on Sunday 4 September – don’t worry, you can still get involved! Saturday 3 September will see the traditional Tour of Britain Team Presentation in George Square.
From 4.30pm, come along to see the world-class teams appear on stage and help us welcome all the riders to Glasgow. There will also be opportunities to meet the stars for photographs and autographs so head on down and be a part of the action!
