a)   Emergency Closures of Schools

b)   Winter Maintenance Plan 2013-14

Glasgow City Council Management Circular 30 ’Emergency Closures of Schools’

In the winter period I wish to ensure you have the appropriate information regarding Emergency Closure of Schools from Glasgow City Council. I hope we do not need to put this into action however it is important that we are prepared.

Please read this document on our school website, in particular the section entitled ‘Advice on Travel’ where it is recognised that parents/ carers have a key role to play in the event of severe weather.

In the event of an emergency closure of our school we will inform all main contacts by text. Please ensure we have your most up to date mobile number by either   

a) phoning the school to check your number

b) writing note of your mobile number and send into school

Glasgow City Council Winter Maintenance Plan

Like many of you I have been concerned with the lack of road and pavement gritting outside our school in previous years and in my endeavours to improve this situation I met with a representative from the Roads Department in December 2012. The outcome of that meeting was that Roads Department addressed historical inconsistencies and assurances were given that the following would be actioned going forward, as required:

1. Dorchester Place – pavement on side of school will be gritted - priority

2. Dorchester Place – road will be gritted from Dorchester Avenue to school gate - priority

3. Weymouth Drive – a designated length of pavement on side of school will be gritted - priority
