Channel editor, Paul Hughes said: “It’s a fantastic project to be involved in. For the first time, families across the city will be able to switch on their television on Christmas day and see their kids providing the soundtrack to their celebrations. We’ve had a tremendous response from the schools. It really highlights what local TV can do in a way you can’t with big network channels.”
Margaret Macleod, head teacher at Carmunnock Primary said: “Our school choir was delighted to be invited perform for STV Glasgow. The choir work very hard to learn songs each Christmas so it’s brilliant that their talents will be enjoyed by such a wide audience this year. It will be a wonderful Christmas gift for families to see their children sing on TV on Christmas day.”
Oliver Cronin, Primary 5, Carmunnock Primary: “It was an amazing feeling being filmed for STV Glasgow. I love singing so it was really special for me as well as the whole school choir. I’m inviting my neighbours round on Christmas day to watch STV Glasgow with me, mum and dad. They’ll all be very proud.”
Councillor Stephen Curran, executive member for education and young people said: "This will be a wonderful opportunity for STV Glasgow viewers to hear how talented the young people of Glasgow are.
"This has been an amazing experience for the children and I know viewers will be singing along with the choirs on Christmas Day."
