Coal Mine Information
You may be aware of some concerns circulating in the local community about issues relating to the existence of a disused mineshaft in Weymouth Drive and in the vicinity of the back entrance of the school.
I have been requested to inform you that there is no cause for concern and it doesnot affect the day to day running of the school. The in filled pit, owned by the Coal Authority, has been fully risked assessed by Glasgow City Council’s mining engineers and the Coal Authority's contracted surveyors, andis showing no sign of movement. It is routinely monitored.
Anyone with any questions or concerns relating to the mineshaft should call the Coal Authority 24 hour helpline on 01623 646 333 where someone will answer any queries.
